The Women’s European Cup is just an Airoh matter!

2021 Women'scup Mugello

It was a weekend full of emotions that just ended at Mugello during the fifth round of the CIV, the Italian Speed Championship, and the last round of the Women’s European Cup, the European Championship reserved for women who race with bikes of the SSP300 category. A championship that, just like last year, was dominated by the Airohriders. At Mugello the wording for the victory was limited to a confrontation between the two Spanish riders Beatriz Neila, the defending champion, and Sara Sanchez. It was already clear from the free sessions that it would be a tough fight even if Roberta Ponziani, Sara Cabrini and Isis Carreño, also all Airoh bearers, did not make his life easy.

It was Roberta Ponziani who signed the pole position, thus starting from the first row, in front of all. In the race, between her Sanchez and Neila was a continuous overtaking until a few laps from the end the rider from Roma slipped leaving the hopes of victory to the two Spaniards. At that point it was an easy game for Neila that, according to the championship standings, stayed behind Sanchez by giving up the race-victory , however, he guaranteed the title, even if only for a point.

Sara Sanchez, Beatriz Neila and Sara Cabrini on the podium while in the championship Neila confirmed the title of the previous year ahead of Sanchez, Ponziani and Carreño. An Airoh triumph from all points of view!

Always at Mugello, it worth to underline the excellent two podiums of Leonardo Carnevali in the SSP300, at the third step of the podium both on Saturday and Sunday races. Unlucky instead Lorenzo Zanetti suffered a technical problem on Saturday while he was second in SBK.
