Round 8 of the AMA Motocross Nationals was held at Thunder Valley in Denver. In moto1 Marvin Musquin claimed the Holeshot finishing 6th. In moto2 Musquin finished 8th good enough for 6th for the day.
Marvin Musquin: “It’s frustrating. Obviously, last weekend I did good in more of the sandy conditions but this weekend was harder dirt and the track was a bit difficult, just a very tough day overall. It’s been a tough two weeks since my crash at Millville and then at practice at WW. I rode a couple laps this week but I can’t train on the motorcycle during the week because of my thumb. On race day, pain isn’t the issue but strength-wise it’s not awesome and confidence-wise I was off. We’ll do everything we can to finish on a high note at Pala next weekend.”
In the 250 class RJ Hampshire was running in 5th in moto1 going down and dropping back to 9h. RJ went down again late in the race leading to a retirement. In moto2 Hampshire could not gate up due to a hand injury sustained in moto1.
“It’s a disappointing way to end my season,” Hampshire said. “I hit the ground hard the past couple weekends and today finished it off. It’s a pain riding injured and always seems to lead to more. I have a couple broken bones in my right hand but everything is in place so surgery shouldn’t be needed. My body needs a few weeks to recover. I’m bummed for myself and the team but we have a lot more to look forward to!”
Airohriders Jason Anderson, Jalek Swoll and Stilez Robertson will miss the remainder of the 2020 AMA Pro Motocross Championship due to injuries sustained at previous rounds of the series.
