At Sachsenring, during the German GP valid as the ninth round of the 2019 MotoGP Championship, a page of history of motorcycling was written. The debut of the MotoE World Championship has in fact marked the new boundary of motorcycling competitions, races dedicated for those motorcycles that are no longer equipped with an endothermic engine rather electric. The protagonists of this event were also Airoh and Maria Herrera, who took part wearing the new GP550 helmet. The Spanish twenty-two year old from Oropesa is the only female rider to participate in the championship and she did it with great determination and professionalism. Despite the difficulties that are increasing for her due to the size and weight of the bike, moreover on a track like the German one which is a true toboggan, Maria finished in 16th place a race interrupted by the red flag due to the fall, fortunately without consequences, for Lorenzo Savadori. The next MotoE World Championship round is set for August 11th in Austria on the A1 Ring; will be the second race of the six scheduled in the calendar which, in addition to the current one and the Austrian race, will see the riders compete in two double rounds, on Saturday and Sunday, in Misano and in Valencia.
Also from Sachsenring there is the fifteenth place in the race, as well as in the championship, for Andrea Locatelli in the Moto2 World Championship:
ANDREA LOCATELLI # 5, 15th “Today was a difficult race in which struggled so much. Unfortunately, we made a wrong choice with the gear and we paid the consequences. I'm sorry. Now we stop a few weeks for the summer break, then we’ll be back on the track ready to face the second half of the season”.
FRANCO BRUGNARA, THE CHIEF ENGINEER “Today we bring home one single point. We deserved something more, but we'll make the next race again. We have taken steps forward and the bike has a good balance. I am sure that after the summer break we will bring good results home”
