Andrea Locatelli, twenty-three-year-old Airohrider from Alzano Lombardo, won today at the Catalan circuit of Montmelò just outside Barcelona, with four races still to be faced before the end of the championship. The Supersport world title thus gives Airoh the ninety-second world title of his history, the second consecutive in the On Road after the one won by Manuel Gonzalez, reigning champion of the SSP300 and youngest in the history of speed.
Locatelli, after taking his sixth consecutive pole position, won the tenth Grand Prix of the season after yesterday, unfortunately, when he was in command of Race1, a sudden storm turned it into a real Russian roulette; the race stopped by the red flag and that however Andrea concluded in the fourth position.
It was a fantastic season that can still give him many satisfactions beyond those put on record; six pole, ten wins and many fast laps are the proof of supremacy that has rarely been seen in a championship fight as of the WorldSSP. 263 points so far with an advantage over Mahias, second, of 104 lengths when there are still four races at the French track of Magny Cours and one of the Portuguese of Estoril.
The victory of the world title was celebrated by Andrea wearing a helmet with a dedicated graphics, specially made for that occasion, where the iris could only be the dominant element.
